Project Highlights
New NC cutting machine requires state-of-the-art plate expansion software.

The purchase of a new NC cutting machine is one of Kumamoto's streamlining initiatives designed to increase productivity by reducing construction time. Another initiative involved extensive research to find the best ship design/lofting CAD/CAM software to provide compatible plate expansion capability with the company's manual plate expansion led by personnel with extensive skill and experience.

Kumamoto selected ShipConstructor to generate digital plate part data of the ship's structure and hull plating formerly prepared on the lofting floor. The company reports very efficient production planning of the chemical tanker's hull and better than expected data results when the lofting expert verified an expanded shape.

Generational change among lofting experts
Because ShipConstructor is so easy to learn and can be adapted for 3D product modeling and production planning for even the most complex vessel, it is Kumamoto’s choice for training its next-generation design teams. It is critically important to maintain the highest technical standards as the industry's more experienced technicians begin to retire.
