Project Highlights
Cutting Time & Costs - High speed
aluminium alloy boats require multiple stringers
laid out along many frames and bulkheads. Using
ShipCAM’s LoftSpace and StiffenerCutout features,
Sumidagawa Shipyard Co. Ltd. was able to produce a high
number of cutouts quickly and precisely.
Compared to manual lofting, the software cut time and
cost since the design team was able to apply a singular
design to the three boats in the series, as well as
independently take care of production lofting in
addition to regular designing.
Ease & Accuracy - ShipConstructor’s Structure module
was used to easily produce shape stiffeners, face plates
and flanges for frame and bulkhead parts, which allowed
for the quick and accurate calculation of weight and CG
that is essential to the design of high speed patrol
boats. The 3D product model also allowed designers to
check and recreate complex parts in 2D by viewing them
as digital mockups, virtually eliminating mistakes
before production.
Project Management - The SQL
database enabled designers to individually input
detailed information like materials, parts and
measurements with ease, while creating individual
structural parts. As a result, the management of the
project was simplified dramatically, without
jeopardizing accuracy.
