Project Highlights
The client for this 36 m long range motor yacht
sought Royal Huisman to bring a vision for a custom
motor vessel to reality. Royal Huisman, in turn, sought
the use of ShipConstructor to make this happen
seamlessly.
Integrated 3D Product Modeling – Royal Huisman’s
construction team liaised with the company’s pipe
engineers, using one 3D product model that automatically
grew in complexity as production developed. The shipyard
is realizing cost savings in the form of visualization,
error checking, and improved production efficiency
because of the concurrent real-time process.
Project Management – The central SQL database enables
data to be shared, implements and enforces standards,
and automatically enters data to ensure product
consistency. Thus the management of the project was
simplified. The yacht was turned right side up in May
for superstructure work, and is on-time for its
scheduled delivery in April 2006.
Spec-driven Pipe Catalog – The Pipe module’s
parametric pipe catalog with specs and connections
allows for quick generation of a 3D pipe model,
referencing any number of 3D structure drawings to
ensure collision-free routing. Anytime a pipe item is
created, deleted or altered, the weight and centre of
gravity of the complete product model is automatically
updated.
