Project Highlights
Structural Reliability – Mustang Marine chose ShipConstructor for structural modeling of the Pilot Cutter due to the complex and advanced double chine hull, developed in conjunction with UK towing tank facilities. The construction of the vessel consists of an extremely durable steel hull with aluminum superstructure, as the craft will be used very heavily in strong weather under severe conditions, along with the expectation of 1000 vessel impacts per annum.

Scalable Solution – On this project, Mustang Marine did not require the complete ShipConstructor software suite consisting of all modules, and most definitely not at a level which a naval architect designing a complex tanker might need. ShipConstructor was the perfect answer for Mustang Marine when choosing a 3D modeling tool as it was the ability to scale the size of their purchase according to their needs and size of their projects, as well as the various pricing levels, which made ShipConstructor the obvious choice for an operation such as theirs.

Short Delivery Time – Although the Pilot Cutter project was one of Mustang Marine’s most complex, they will still able to complete the project in just eight months. The productivity gains from pre-cut panels and an efficient subassembly shop mean that some of their smaller vessels can see transverse bulkheads and framing erected in a single day. It is their competency with ShipConstructor and the speed with which they complete a job that is winning them more and more contracts, as well as making them an attractive company to develop cooperative relationships with for the provision of complete design and production services.
