Company Description

Noran Engineering, Inc. (NEi) is a world-wide leader in CAE software. Thousands of companies routinely use NEi Nastran to perform linear and nonlinear stress, dynamic, and heat transfer analysis. Support is also provided for specialized analyses such as DDAM, optimization, fatigue, CFD and event simulation. NEi Nastran has played a key role in the design of space vehicles, aircraft, naval vessels, automobiles, medical products, computer, electronics, and architectural structures developed over the past decade. NEi continues to lead the competition by improving and enhancing the software’s unique blend of power, ease-of-use, and cost effectiveness.

Product Description

NEi Nastran design simulation and virtual prototyping products allow companies to reduce product development costs and improve time-to-market. Engineers can determine real-world structural, thermal, fluid-flow, and aero-elastic behaviour of both simple and complex 3D product designs. Model generation and analysis time is also reduced by combining powerful and easy-to-use finite element modellers with extremely fast analysis solvers that have a proven record of accurate results.

ShipConstructor Partnership

The U.S. Navy, through the Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) program, will fund the collaborative effort between Noran Engineering, Inc., a leading developer of NEi Nastran finite element analysis (FEA) software, and SSI, to develop the program, that is already underway, that will solve a major production problem in shipyards with safe, damage free lifting and handling of ship components during construction. The new software, code-named ShipLift, will automatically calculate the proper pick up points and maintain a digital knowledge base that will always be available. A streamlined 3D product data model of the structure will be created in ShipConstructor’s design software. NEi Nastran FEA will analyze the model for stresses and strains on the plates, sub-assemblies and full assemblies. Pick up points will then be identified that provide safe, distortion free lifting and handling.
