Why use Navisworks Publisher and Presenter?

Presenter provides a fast rendering engine and a memory saving technology that lets you work with large amounts of data very quickly without overloading your computer. Loading complete ShipConstructor models of large projects into AutoCAD will exceed the memory capacity of most computers. Even if you bought more RAM, Windows can only address 2GB of RAM for AutoCAD. Here are some numbers with regards to memory used on recent OSV project: Loading just 2 of the 9 units into AutoCAD used up 770MB. With Navisworks, I was able to load all pipe, equipment, and structure
drawings (27 drawings) into memory using just 545 MB, and - best of all - the file loaded in just a few seconds.

Procedure

I prefer generating intermediate export drawings of each unit’s structure, pipe and equipment models using ShipConstructor’s Export function. This way, I can clean up any drawing without interfering with anyone working on the actual project. I ended up with a set of 27 drawings for the 9 units in this PSV. Dividing them into units lets me also easily create any combination for producing rendered images, movies, or to distribute the NWD files for viewing
by anyone with the free Freedom viewer. Next, I convert all drawings to NWD files. Now, you are ready to assemble any view quickly even on machines not loaded to the maximum with RAM and CPU horsepower to spare.
